Remember the story
Lutheran Church of St. Paul in Vladivostok was erected in the beginning XIX century from 1907 to 1909 years. It replaced a wooden church built in 1878 by a Lutheran community on a land plot that Otto Rein, who had come from Alaska and settled in the Far East, acquired.
Project for a new building in the style of German Gothicexecuted by Georg Junghedel, an architect from Germany. The tree was replaced with a red brick delivered from Germany. It was acquired by the company Kunst and Albers under the management of Adolf Duttan.
In 1935 the Lutheran church was closed, and the building became the property of the Navy.
After 15 years, in 1950, it was placed here the museum The Pacific Fleet: expositions were decorated with weapons, the bust of Lenin was placed directly on the altar, artillery guns were installed in the courtyard.
Revival
1997 was a landmark for the Lutheran community: Germany recognized the church as a monument of German culture abroad, the administration of the regional center transferred the building to the permanent use of the Lutheran community, the restoration of the temple began with the joint efforts of Germany and the city of Vladivostok.
In 2006 Lutheran Church of St. Paul in Vladivostok filled with organ music thanks to a gift organ, which came from Sydney and Melbourne (Australia). Since that moment, in the oldest city church building, not only church services began to be conducted, socially significant Events, shares charity, but also concerts of classicalorgan music. Classics, accompanied by an organ in a building filled with a hundred-year history, with fine acoustics, makes a strong impression, regardless of religious preferences.
The Austrian organ under the vaults of the church lasted three years, then it was donated to the Lutherans of the city of Arsenyev, and a new organ came to replace it from Germany.
The church is able to accommodate about half a thousand people, including seating for about 200.
