Planting of tulips. What you need to know the beginner florist?
Tulip - a symbol of spring, because this plantblossoms one of the first after the snow. Today there are a huge number of varieties of these colors, which differ in color, bud form, number of petals and other features. Of course, with the choice of variety of tulips, each gardener can decide on his own. But the basic rules for planting and caring for plants are practically the same and for beginner growers it is worth familiarizing with them in advance.
To plant tulips and further care forplants have produced the desired results, it is necessary to choose a worthy planting material. Bulbs should be dense, without any noticeable damage, wrinkles and stains. Of course, it is better to plant a clean material and it is very important that the bulbs are not affected by the variegation virus. The fact is that the only way to fight this virus is to completely destroy the entire plant, including the bulb.
Planting of tulips should be carried out insuitable place of the garden. The selected site should be reliably protected from winds of the northern direction. It is equally important to ensure that sunlight hits the flower bed during the day. If you plan to grow late varieties, then a small shading will not be a hindrance, on the contrary, such conditions contribute to long flowering.
In addition, on the site where the planting of tulips is planned, there should be no dominance of perennial weeds, it is especially important to get rid of soybean and wheat grass.
Before the disembarkation must be carefullyprepare the ground. Tulips grow well on light soils that have a neutral reaction. Unsuitable for the cultivation of these flowers are peaty soils with a close groundwater table. If the soil reaction is acidic, then planting of tulips can be carried out only after preliminary application of lime.
For a year or two, the planned site should bemake a large amount of organic fertilizers. If this was not done, then before planting the bulbs you need to make hum - manure or leaf. The use of fresh manure immediately before planting flowers is excluded.
If the soil on the planned plot is clayey, heavy, then its composition can be improved by applying for each square meter of area of a bucket of peat, the same amount of river sand of a coarse fraction, as well as a glass of lime and two spoons of nitrophos.
And what time of planting of tulips is consideredideal? Flower bulbs are planted in autumn, when the temperature of the soil drops to 10 degrees. In this case, the bulbs will have time to take root, and, therefore, will well overwinter and will please the spring with their flowering. As a rule, ten days after the landing, the bulbs manage to give roots.
And what will happen if the landing time is violatedtulips? In the event that the florist hurried to planting, then in the spring the stems will start to grow early and they may be damaged by late spring frosts. In the event that it's too late with a landing, the bulbs will not have time to take root and may freeze in winter frosts.
If the bulbs of the tulips are large, then they are planted in the corners of squares measuring 15 by 15 cm. A smaller planting material is planted according to the scheme ten by ten, and the baby can be planted twice as often.
And how deep do you need to plant bulbs? The general rule is that the soil layer above the bulb should be three times larger than the height of the bulb itself. That is, the larger the planting material, the deeper it needs to be closed. However, it is necessary to take into account not only the size of the onions, but also the quality of the soil. On heavier loams, the depth should be shallower than on sandstone.
If the soil is dry, then a day before planting it should be well watered, soaking to a sufficient depth. After planting the material, the flower bed is watered again.
To ensure a good wintering ridge withplanted tulips need to mulch with peat or dry foliage. In the spring, the layer of mulch is not necessary to remove, you can simply seal it in the upper layer of the soil when loosening.
