The BMW 320d is a former champion who has not lost his ambitions in the present
BMW 3 Series compact car company BMWAG began production in 1975. The third series, reminiscent of the first successes of the BMW in motorsports with the 315th model in the distant 1935, was a very successful marketing move of the company in response to the 1973 oil crisis. Since then, six generations of this car have changed:
E21 (1975-1983);
E30 (1982-1994);
E36 (1990-2000);
E46 (1998-2006);
E90 / E91 / E92 / E93 (2005-2011);
F30 (2012 - ...)
Since 2005, four types of bodies of the "troika"(sedan, coupe, convertible, station wagon) assigned different indices, but in the last generation it stopped, and the letter was replaced. This car is the basis of BMW's financial strength: it has the highest share of sales (about 40%) among the firm's models; in Europe it is one of the best-selling in its class; and in the UK in general the best-selling car for several years.
BMW, which started with the production of aviationengines, has always been positioned as a company that provides "on-the-spot flights" on their cars. This meant not only and not how much to ensure the maximum possible speed, but to a greater extent - the ability to "sink", that is, a good dynamics of the car.
Providing such dynamics for a passenger car withdiesel engine - the task is not easy, especially when it is combined with the condition of compliance with high reliability. BMW did not take it until 1983, despite the rapid development of diesel engines from competitors Mercedes Benz. In 1983, the M21 engine was created for the 5-Series, called "sport-diesel", a volume of 2.4 liters. After a series of successful developments in 1998, we designed and launched a 4-cylinder 2-liter M47 diesel engine with a record 68 hp. or 50 kW per liter of volume. This engine with a total power of 100 kW allowed the model BMW 320d to win in the 24-hour race on the track in the Nurburgring.
After such an impressive victory, dieselcars BMW 320d with body E46 were perfectly sold in Europe. But their owners were in no hurry to part with their pets, and such cars, especially those with a small mileage, rarely got to Russia and the CIS countries. Therefore, with respect to the BMW 320d E46, owners' reviews from Russia and CIS countries are not so numerous, as this very successful model deserves.
In the first place, the owners of the BMW 320d bragconsumption of diesel fuel: real seven liters per 100 km even with "uneven" and high-speed driving (10 liters - maximum). Secondly, they praise these cars for what they praise BMW traditionally: the ability to quickly accelerate and confidently keep the road at speeds of 200 km / h and maneuvers at high speeds. Scolded BMW 320d for low ground clearance, rigidity of suspension, breakdown of fuel equipment, intercooler and turbine. But such breakdowns arise as the logical conclusion of the use of bad diesel fuel, poor-quality oil and filters, a literal perception of the term "not killed" with respect to the engine M21.
The current BMW 320d, whose price in Russiaranges from 1 485 000 to 1 585 000 rubles, is a worthy continuer of the traditions of the legendary "troika". True, it is "stuffed" with electronics and automation "above the waterline" - this provides a significant increase in the cost of the model in comparison with its predecessors. The two-liter turbodiesel engine of this car has a capacity of 184 hp. and a torque of 380 Nm, which allows you to accelerate to 100 km / h in 7.6 seconds. Diesel BMW 320d - feel like a "soaring tractor driver"!
